Title: It Was Me All Along
Author: Andie Mitchell
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
After I finished reading this book, as I always do, I had a look at a few Goodreads reviews to see what other people thought. And I was very surprised to see so many really negative reviews of this book. I really liked it. In fact, I read the whole book in just one day, and that’s something that doesn’t happen for me very often.
So what did I like so much about it? Well, I really loved the way the author described her interactions with food. I could really relate to the way she described the smells, tastes, and textures, and how she would just eat with abandon until she was stuffed.
So why not 5 stars then? Well, I have to admit I did find it a bit hard to relate to the whole weight loss side of the book. And at times I did kind of feel uncomfortable about the bragging…oh, wonderful me I lost 153 pounds isn’t that great! I mean, yeah, it is great, but something about the way it was written made me feel kind of embarrassed.
I’m also marking this one every so slightly down because of the whole build up and chapter about her meeting Leonardo DiCaprio, and the photo they got together, and she didn’t even include the photo! Actually, I found myself really wishing that there were some photos included in the book so that I had more than just the cover to go by.
Overall, I found this book engaging and entertaining. I would recommend it, especially if you have every had any issues with emotional eating. There are many others on Goodreads who don’t agree with me though, so you might have to go and read it for yourself.
